Reddington launches plastic surgery clinic

The Reddington Hospital Group has announced it has established a Bodycare Plastic Surgery Clinic in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The hospital said the new centre was established in collaboration with Abuja Plastics, a renowned plastic surgery centre in Nigeria.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Reddington Hospital Group headquarters in Lagos, the Chief Operating Officer of Reddington Hospital, Emmanuel Matthews, said the establishment of the centre was in response to the yearnings of Nigerians for a professional and world-class plastic surgery clinic in Nigeria.

This, he said, would reduce the foreign exchange spent by Nigerians on medical tourism to India, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, among other countries.

On his part, the Medical Director, Bodycare Plastic Surgery Clinic and Founder of Abuja Plastics, Dr. Stanley Okoro, said the cutting-edge medical technology and qualified staff at Reddington hospital provide a perfect synergy between the two partners to make the clinic a plastic surgery destination for Nigerians, Africans and others.

Dr. Okoro, who has won many global awards and has extensive experience in all areas of plastic surgery, said plastic surgery was safe if done by a team of professionals in the right environment. “There is no need to travel overseas for excellence in cosmetic or reconstructive plastic surgery as the services are very well provided at the Reddington Bodycare Plastic Surgery Clinic,” Okoro said. Also speaking, a key member of the Bodycare team, Dr Jennifer Cameron, said the clinic offers an extensive range of aesthetic plastic surgery procedures for all areas of the body.

Cameron, who is an experienced Plastic Surgeon from Minnesota, USA, said the services include facelifts, eyelid surgery, breast augmentation and reductions, buttock lifts, contouring and reduction, Botox treatments and many others including procedures for men such as tummy tuck, waist reduction, etc.

“The centre has already accepted its first patient who travelled from the UK for the procedure.

“The Bodycare team will also provide remedial plastic surgical services as well as reconstructive services, providing solutions for congenital defects such as cleft palate, dealing with the victims of burns injuries and providing other specialist Plastic surgeries,” She said.

Russia issues stark warning over the nuclear power plant it's occupying; Kyiv urges inspection of damaged facility

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday night that Ukrainian diplomats and nuclear scientists are in "constant touch" with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and working to get a team of inspectors into the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The plant has been occupied by Russian troops since the start of the war in Ukraine but there have been increasing fears that a nuclear catastrophe could take place as shelling has intensified around the plant, which Ukraine says has been used by Russia to store ammunition and military equipment. Russia has accused Ukraine of shelling the plant. There are heightened fears that a catastrophe could occur at the plant, which is Europe's largest of its kind. Yesterday, Ukraine's Emergency Ministry conducted a nuclear catastrophe exercise in Zaporizhzhia in case of an accident.  In other news, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is in Lviv in Ukraine on Thursday to

This Nigerian is creating software to help the world understand babies’ cries

Charles Onu Source: TechCabal When life gives you lemons, you can do whatever you want with them. Problems, on the other hand, require solutions that come from deep thinking and, sometimes, experience. For Canada-based Charles Onu, the problems he experienced in Nigeria formed the womb that would later produce Ubenwa, his innovative healthtech startup that leverages advanced technology to preserve the lives of newborns. In most parts of the world, immediately after a child is born, it undergoes a test called APGAR scoring. This test is a non-invasive examination of the baby that helps to identify whether the child has a medical condition to be treated. At that stage of the baby’s life, though, almost every illness can fall under the life-threatening category, which is why early diagnoses are imperative.  Regrettably, APGAR scoring is a lagging indicator ( a method that diagnoses some medical conditions after they’ve progressed to an extent).
